Certain birds can be considered pests due to their damage to property, and the serious health issues they can cause. Additionally, they can cause damage to property by dislodging roofing, blocking guttering, and building nests. Problems caused by birds can lead to poor business, the need for costly building repairs and contamination of food products. Some birds are even notorious for carrying diseases that humans can catch, and are officially recognised as threats to public health. Droppings are also a huge annoyance and not only damage the finishes of buildings but also cause hygiene problems. Cleaning up bird droppings can also be costly.
Bird populations become harder to control the longer they are allowed to nest and roost undisturbed. So, it is best to get rid of a pest bird problem the moment you are aware of it and to actively make your property less habitable for them. Even if pest birds may seem relatively harmless, they can actually cause a whole host of problems.
This kind of problem requires specialist intervention and in-depth knowledge of bird control regulations. Adopting expert bird control measures will ensure your property is protected against the hazards associated with pest birds. At Bay Pest we use a wide variety of proven methods to control, deter and manage nuisance birds, that won’t disrupt your home or business.
Our “Flock Off” seagull control systems are perfect for use on any building profile or shape, whether it’s a residential home or commercial/industrial building. It doesn’t cause any damage to your roof or edging either.
On top of this, our system is humane and doesn’t actually physically hurt the birds, unlike some other approaches.
We have had many clients over the years approach us after trying these other methods and have been impressed with the long term results from using our “Flock Off” bird spike system.
Our bird spikes are made of high-quality stainless steel (beware of cheap imitations) on a thick plastic polymer backing. They are not designed to harm the birds, as they are flexible and bend when light force is applied. This proven design effectively deters birds from landing on the ledges. They are also relatively low profile and barely visible when applied to buildings.
Of course, there are other approaches using bird scaring devices and mechanical deterrents. From our experience, however, these do not work in the long term. This is because they can wear out over time, and have limited effectiveness as the birds become familiar with these systems.
At Bay Pest Services, we are qualified pest control specialists and have considerable experience in dealing with all types of bird issues throughout the North Island, we will tailor a bird programme/deterrant to suit the individual circumstances of the client and the environment.
