Borer can weaken timber, so can threaten the structural integrity of your home or workplace over time.

There are 7 species of borer in NZ with the most common being the Common House Borer. Small holes (2-4mm) on the surface of timber and piles of fine sawdust are sure signs that you may have borer in the furniture or timber of your home.

Borer attacks untreated and damp timber and treating infested areas is often easier said than done. Wood must be stripped and treated directly to completely remove the pest. This is because airborne treatments only kill the flying adult insects and will not remove the larvae inside the timber.
